Glossary/Fraud

A team or player that appears strong on paper or in basic stats but is not genuinely robust when facing tougher competition. "Fraud" is often used to call out overhyped records or misleading performance indicators.

The label typically suggests that the team’s success is inflated by weak opponents, luck, or unsustainable factors that won't hold up against quality teams.

  • Example: A team with a 6–0 record accumulated against weak opponents may be called a fraud if it’s likely to struggle against true contenders.

  • Betting note: Identifying potential frauds helps bettors avoid traps where public perception and raw records mask true quality.
